The Medway Speedrun Marathon was hoping to have its maiden event this year, on the Medway campus of Greenwich University. A speedrun marathon open to everyone with the aim of raising money for charity. Because of the widespread virus COVID-19, for the safety of potential attendees, the event is postponed indefinitely. Preparation had begun beforehand with this logo. An almagamation of the setting for the event, a seaside borough and the topic of the event, speedrunning.
When the setup for the event takes full swing, Hibnotic will work alongside the coordinators to make the event look and run smoothly.
4:3 accommodating layout and pause screen:
The recent update to Jordan's stream aesthetic is improved animations for the flower background, a layout that works round games/displays that use the 4:3 aspect ratio and a pause screen, reminiscent of 'The Simpson's: Hit and Run' pause menu.
A custom made box made for displaying the music being played on stream, based off the games 'Objective Hint' was also created, with in game elements being referenced.
Right off the back of a high pressure role as Dr Robotnik's (Jim Carrey) right-hand-man 'Agent Stone' Lee has dived into the world of livestreaming with help from a great moderation team, and Hibnotic. The platform that Lee had created on Twitter and Instagram before his streaming endeavours, meant that he already had an audience that would happily migrate to Twitch to watch his gaming antics. This meant that his Twitch image would have to reflect the pre-established professional image on his other social media platforms.
After deciding on the image, and acceptance from Lee, we moved on to the first assets for his channel, the panels. A set of images that explain the stream and the streamer, give links to social medias and thank those who have contributed to the channel.
Whilst Javacom is a very elegant font that works well for titles, we thought using Consolas for the smaller font was easier for reading.
Because of his large following, it wasn't long until Lee hit affiliate status on Twitch. This meant that there were more elements that could be curated and customised to his stream's look.
It's a pleasure to work with Lee and helping him on his way to Partner status on Twitch. As it stands we want to keep building his image on Twitch and should he upgrade his setup, layouts, transitions and other animations will be ready for the arrival.
AskJT (Jordan) is known for his prowess in speedrunning, particularly in The Simpson's: Hit and Run, which he showcases to the public on his Twitch channel. As Hibnotic has partnered with Jordan before on the Blindrunner's Twitch channel, the two were familiar with each other's desires on the other side of the project. The client simply wanted a new layout for their channel to add a little flair.
The result is a combination of Jordan's standout iconography and elements of his speed game.
Repeating this design and animating the flowers on a loop of moving both down and across worked well, as the movement doesn't distract from the gameplay of Jordan's streams but instead complimenting the calm nature of the streams.
This resulted in the final piece, with the addition of the AskJT logo. A looping video that doesn't require a substantial amount of PC resources to run through Jordan's streaming program OBS.
I'll keep coming back to this project, as I feel it can be approved upon. As the relationship between client and creator remains strong we can find ways to adapt the design to the changing landscape of the livestream format
The McRaeathon is an annual 'speedrun marathon' of off-road driving games. Each year a group of runners will stream their runs sequentially under one Twitch.tv channel with the aim to raise money for charity. With it being hosted on the BSG (Benelux Speedrun Gathering) channel this year, this called for a step up in the production and aesthetics of the event.
The elements that were needed were:
